I'm looking at buying a new dslr the, Canon eos 5d MKII or the Nikon d700, but before I invest I was wondering if I could get some feed back from users as which glass is better for letus products, Im thinking availability, cost, productivity, etc- before I go ahead and make the purchase, from what I gather Canon is the better quality but more expensive?

I recommend Nikon lenses mainly because you have complete control over the iris ring where with Canon lenses, it's much more awkward to change the iris setting. Quality of glass between the two is almost identical.

I agree with disjecta, but keep in mind that the focus ring of a nikon turns in the opposite direction. some people find this akward. I got used to it

If your shooting Hd on the new cannon dslr you won't need a letus, u are already shooting through 35mm lens
