 Bypass your stock lens entirely with a more light efficient, sharper, and easier to use relay lens from Letus.
The Letus35 1/2" Full Frame (FF) relay lens is designed for cameras with a ½” image sensor and removable lens system. The Letus relay will allow you to attach a Letus adapter (Extreme, Elite, or Ultimate) directly to your camera body on cameras with removable lenses such as the Sony PMW-EX3.
A relay lens allows you to bypass the stock lens of your removable lens camera entirely. This offers many advantages. Since the relay lenses are purpose built, they are going to provide the sharpest, most light efficient image possible. The lenses are also smaller then most stock lenses making for a more compact 35mm adapter camera setup. With straight forward controls for aperture and focus (both lockable), there is no complex setup routine necessary when using a relay. If you have a removable lens camera, then a Letus relay lens is certainly the best option for top quality 35mm footage.
Our 1/2" Full Frame relay uses a 35mm Full Frame image size. If you want to maintain the focal of an SLR lens with no cropping, the full frame relay is the best option. There is no "crop factor" with this relay so a 50mm SLR lens will maintain its' full 50mm focal length. This is not the case on academy frame relays (designed for cine lenses) or on DSLRs with APS-C or APS-H sensor sizes if you are familiar with those.
If you plan on using Cinema lenses with your relay lens, then we recommend the 1/2" Academy Frame relay as most cine lenses are not designed to project a 35mm full frame size (with the exception of some lenses like the Zeiss Compact Primes).
