Pics of my LEX+XH-A1 Rig 2007/11/19 22:19 Karma: 0
Here are some pics of my rig. I have 2 setups exactly like this (twins). I use 2 rod systems not only for more flexibility when changing lenses in terms of Follow Focus and Matte Box adjustments, but that allows a more balanced weight disposition vis à vis the tripod head.

On one rod system, there's some kind of conflict between IndiFocus and the LEX rod support. Some have opted to even exclude the LEX rod support or to turn the LEX upside down. I used 2 rods systems to address that issue and for other benefits some of which are mentioned above.

Here are the main parts of my rig:

Canon XH-A1
Letus Extreme
18-lb capacity pro fluid head tripod
One 18-inch Cine Rod rails
One 10-inch Cine Rod rails
One Cine Jumbo HD Matte Box
One Lilliput 7" LCD monitor (not the touchscreen one)
One Varizoom 7" monitor sunhood
A 12-volt Battery pack
One Flex monitor Bracket
Canon FD lenses (the one in the pic is an 135mm)
Different filters that you will not be able to see in the pics.

Again, I have exactly 2 rigs like that. Here are the few pics.

Please, feel free to opine and to suggest. I am a newbie in the field. Thanks.

This is a great looking setup.

What make of follow focus are you using here?

The IndiFocus (at http://indifocus.com/)

The link seems to not work. you would have to copy & paste the link above into your browser address window.

very interesting you posted these pictures because
I came here to post about an issue im having.

I just got the extreme, and support bracket.
I also have the indifocus.

Both brackets want to fall in the same exact area.
I see yours are almost touching..
but am I missing something?

Rip, in the pics, I'm using a very short lens (35-50mm), that's why they are very close. For longer lenses, they are a world apart. I wanted to show even with a very short lens, the dual rod system works fine.

For shorter lenses (wide angles 17-35mm), focus pulling is NOT NECESSARY. And I have a 3rd set-up with the Letus Mini for most/all of those wide angle shots on Cranes, Jibs, shoulder-mounted or other glider types of hand-held tricks.
