possibly Backfocus adjustment out of tolerance 2008/04/05 07:50 Karma: 0
Hi,
I´m quite shure that my letus 35 mini is out of backfocus allignment tolerance. That means, when I´m trying to follow the backfocus tips in the manual, I get stuck with the following problem:
I set focus to a a siemens focuschart in 1.5 metres distance, the lens metering shows about 1.7 metres.
So I set the lens to the actual 1.5 metres, and loosen the mount to correct it, but the further I pull the lens out the softer the focus.
I think that means that in fact I should push the lens further in, which is clearly impossible. The only cure would be to push the groundglass further out (I think).
Effect of this missalignment is that I have major trouble with focus on wideangles.
Already got a helpdesk ticket, but had no response yet. As my time is running short on this issue:
Has anybody had this problem, and manged to solve it?

Thanks a lot
Holger

Okay found the answer to my problem here.

http://www.letusdirect.com/letus35-extreme/1255-can-t-focus-to-past-30-feet.html

Oh my, thats a though job, trial and error fumbling with no chance to adjust proper allignment with screws or something that has a repeatable position. Instead, its pushing and pulling rubber pins until you hit the right position approximately by chance.

Well no fun, but it seems to have worked.
But no clue if the groundglass is perfectly parallel to the optic.

Thanks
Holger

jesus christmas....i dont look forward to doing this...
i, too, am having the same problem with my letus extreme; the lens mount needs to be shorter in order to achieve proper back focus.

it has been frustrating beyond belief.
