Consumer level Cameras 2008/01/08 12:07 Karma: 0
I'm putting together an hv20 rig with a letus mini 35mm adapter. Does anyone have any thought on the Canon HG10 or the new HF10? Would there be a reason to go with the HV20 over these? Thanks

The benefit of the HV20 is that it is a proven system with a huge user base from which to draw information from.

That being said, the HF10 does look like a nice little camera. Not having to capture from tape is a huge plus in my book.

It all depends on what style of shooting you will be doing and what you find the easiest to work with. The Mini gives you the 35mm lens ability, you just need to decide which camera to attach to the back of the adapter.

If you are anxious, I would say get the HV20 as it is available now. Let the new Canon cameras sit on the market a while to see how users like them.

I think I might wait. No tape work flow seems really nice, and easy to keep track of. I was under the impression that the functions we exactly the same, so wouldn't HF10 questions be answered the same as HV20? Thanks for the feedback.

It does have similarities to the HV20. It will probably be worth the wait for the solid state recording.
