stupid question 2008/01/10 17:53 Karma: 0
I shoot since 1993 but never really serious.

First a s-vhs than a mini dv.. 3 weeks ago my late camera hit the ground and is now way beyond good condition. So after 10 years I must buy something new again.

I want a xm2 or xl1s (2nd hand!) but than take notice of the hv20 from canon which is cheaper new than the 'x' ones.
Somehow everybody likes it big time, but the hd thing is completly new for me so I was still not sure.
But than find out about the letus35 mini and seein the test results on the net... I'm completely amazed by the results.
My whole dream of making serious short movies is completly back again.
At least for that feeling I must thank the letus team haha.

It's time for my stupid question:
If I buy a canon hv20 and a letus35 mini, is that all? Or must I yet get other lenses with it to get that great result I saw on the few test video's?

You probably already guess, I'm no know it all on camera's and stuff.. but I love to have the possibility to shoot nice pictures for under a 2000 euro's haha.

Thanx, Mike d. - the netherlands

Mike, sorry to hear about the camera breaking. At least it has re-lit your desire to shoot movies

If you buy the HV20 and the Letus35 Mini you will also need some SLR lenses. I would recommend finding a nice, used Nikon AI 50mm f1.8 lens. This is a great basic lens that will work for many shooting situations. You can find them for around $40-$60 USD.

If you want a serious setup, you may also consider support rods to hold your camera and adapter. We make very high end support rods that can be added to your order but if they don't fit your budget, there are many fine alternatives available.

Please post back if you have any other questions.

note: Ooooh I understand now. I probably replied twice personal to degrey istead of the topic.. well my 3rd try to post my reply for the public.. haha

Cheers degrey for the fast reply.

I looked at the nikon lens you recommend and found out they're are a bit more expensive in the netherlands (2nd hand) than in the US.

I actually want a wide angle lens more than anything. Can you recommend one!? Sorry for being a complete nitwit with all this.
(edit: is this a good one!?
Nikon Nikkor 28mm 3.5 Ai)

About the support rods. I can see that with yet an extra lens infront of de mini this can be very handy dandy. But my piggybank say's no.

I hate to ask on this forum. But can you name some of the many fine alternatives.

To give you a price indication what I have to spend besides the canon hv20: €850,-
A bit over is not a problem, I than have to eat less the next months.. haha
I know it's a very tide budget for all this. But it's all I can spend at the moment.

thanx a lot for helping me.
